Empowering Others

At WaveGard we have always been all about empowering others to boldly defend themselves. In this strangest of times, it's more important than ever to not only lead with our strengths, but to also help others maximize their strengths.

To help do our part, WaveGard is not only offering our advice@wavegard program to assist SMB and non-profits with free cybersecurity assistance, but we are also helping to support HealthCare Access Maryland (HCAM) with their daunting task of helping Maryland's most vulnerable individuals weather the storm of COVID-19.

We ask that you join with us in supporting HCAM as they continue performing their much needed services while pivoting to a remote work model. You can help out by going to their GoFundMe page, reading about their efforts, and then donating what you can - every dollar helps.

Alone they do good. Together we do better…

Thank you!

Helping Where We Can... IT and Cybersecurity Advice

The short version: If you are an SMB or non-profit and need IT or cyber advice with the recent changes and shift to a remote work model, please reach out for free help. We are also a small business, but we’ve been around for over 15 years and happy to help where we can.

Email us: advice@wavegard.com

Ummm, wow. It's more than surreal to be living through the current world in which we find ourselves. While nobody would have thought that we would all be in this situation, it is during these times that we all must pull together and help out where we can.

I had thought that if there was a major crisis WaveGard's cybersecurity skills would be next to useless since we would likely not have Internet - let alone electricity. No power, no cyber. I would have to fall back on my cooking and cocktail making skills to pitch in and help the cause. As it turns out with the current situation security and agile IT solutions are actually a cornerstone of keeping businesses afloat for the next few months (or longer) and cyber is more important than ever.

To this end, we at WaveGard are reaching out to small businesses, non-profits, and other organizations that are struggling with the move to remote work and concerned about how best to secure their environments. We seek to offer advice, provide a sounding board, and suggest solid proven approaches that have worked well for our commercial clients. WaveGard's been in this game for over 15 years and we know the value of having the right advisors to talk to - especially when everything feels overwhelming and you don't know where to start...

So, if you do have questions, please send them to us and we will do our best to help advise you with how to get started with your cyber challenges and navigate through this difficult time. For more complex questions, we will look to set up a Teams call to help discuss the situation in more detail and hopefully point you in the right direction.

To begin, just email us at: advice@wavegard.com

There will of course not be any cost or fee associated with the time we spend with you. This is our way of giving back and pitching in where we can.

Our goal, as it's always been, is to help empower you to boldly defend your data. We know that you can do this and we are happy to help.

Speaking and Learning - of Cyber and Ageing

Speaking and Learning - of Cyber and Ageing

It was my pleasure to speak at a recent Charles E Smith Life Communities event with a host of other fantastic professionals earlier this month. (https://www.smithlifecommunities.org/event/cyber-security-for-professionals-how-to-maximize-data-security-and-client-protection/ ) While the topic was nominally on cybersecurity, fraud, and protecting yourself online, the broader narrative was around elder care and protecting our aging population.

One of the things that I love about attending these types of events, speaking, or being on panels is the ability to learn from others and be exposed to different points of view. My colleagues at the event: Sarah Kaplan from Kaplan Financial Group, Mike Volk from PSA Insurance, and Howard Tischler of EverSafe provided diverse perspectives on how we can protect ourselves, our businesses, and our families with a particular focus on helping those that are most vulnerable.

WaveGard Speaking - Charles E. Smith Life Communities Feb 13

WaveGard president, Rick Dreger, has been asked to speak at an event sponsored by Charles E. Smith Life Communities on February 13 from 8:30-10:30AM. The event will also include a panel discussion and Q&A with Sarah B. Kaplan from Kaplan Financial Group, LLC and Mike Volk of PSA Insurance.

The working title right now is: Cybersecurity Empowerment: Fraudulent Fraudsters and their Frightening Frauds…

As always for these types of events we are looking to balance topical content and actionable next steps with engaging discussions. The laughing mind is the learning mind after all…

We hope to see you there!
